New York – United States of America: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of the continuous significant pressures confronting the health system in the Gaza Strip, noting that medical facilities and healthcare personnel are operating under extremely difficult conditions amidst worsening challenges that impact their ability to provide basic services to the population.
The office explained that the health sector faces mounting burdens as a result of rising humanitarian and medical needs, alongside shortages in essential supplies, medical equipment, fuel, and the operational requirements necessary for the continued functioning of hospitals and health centers.

It pointed out that medical institutions operating in Gaza face complex challenges related to their capacity to absorb large numbers of cases requiring care and treatment, at a time when the need persists for the urgent provision of humanitarian and medical support to ensure conditions do not worsen.

The UN office also emphasized that the continuation of current pressures could negatively reflect on the level of healthcare services provided to civilians, especially in light of growing needs that encompass emergency care, therapeutic, and preventive services, calling for a reinforced humanitarian response and the provision of necessary requirements for the health sector.
