Beirut, Lebanon – The US Embassy in Beirut announced an agreement between Lebanon and Israel to begin implementing what are known as “pilot zones” in the coming days.
This comes within the framework of understandings aimed at implementing security arrangements in southern Lebanon,
and amid US monitoring of the talks between the two sides.
Implementation of the agreement will begin within days
The US Embassy confirmed that the Lebanon and Israel sides have reached
an agreement to begin implementing the first phase of the pilot zones in the coming days.
This step aims to test the mechanisms for implementing the agreed-upon security arrangements.
This development follows a series of meetings and contacts held under US auspices,
including discussions between military delegations from both sides.
Security arrangements in the south
The first phase is expected to include specific areas in southern Lebanon.
Security measures will be implemented there according to agreed-upon mechanisms.
The results will then be evaluated before moving to other phases or areas.
These pilot areas are part of understandings aimed at strengthening stability
and reducing tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
US monitoring of the talks
The United States continues its role in monitoring the implementation of the understandings between the two sides.
This comes amidst diplomatic and security efforts
aimed at stabilizing southern Lebanon and preventing any escalation on the ground.
