Tehran, Iran – In a pivotal diplomatic move amid heightened military tensions, Iran’s state news agency announced that Tehran has delivered its official response to the Pakistani mediator.
This comes in response to the latest proposal from the United States to end the ongoing war in the region.
The Mehr News Agency reported that the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed
that these responses followed a thorough review of the American observations and proposals.
He also indicated that negotiations at this critical juncture are primarily focused on the issue of “ending the war.”
They also emphasize a cessation of hostilities that have plagued the region since last February.
Military mobilization and “offensive readiness”
In parallel with the diplomatic efforts, Tehran witnessed a high-level military move.
During a meeting with Major General Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters,
Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei received a comprehensive report on the readiness of the armed forces.
The report included a detailed assessment of the capabilities of the army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the security forces,
the border guards, and the Ministry of Defense, as well as the Basij militia.
Major General Abdollahi stated that Iranian forces possess “complete defensive and offensive readiness.”
He emphasized that they have strategic plans and advanced military equipment
to counter what he described as “American and Israeli hostilities.”
He warned that any “strategic mistake” by the enemies would be met with a “swift, decisive, and powerful response.”
He explained that the response would make the aggressors regret their intentions.
Khamenei: New measures and continued confrontation
For his part, Mojtaba Khamenei praised the “heroism of the armed forces” over the past months, asserting that the strategies adopted
by the leadership had thwarted enemy plots and contributed to achieving “great victories.”
In a move suggesting preparedness for all eventualities, Khamenei announced
the adoption of “new and decisive measures” to continue military operations.
He emphasized that international powers would be confronted with full force should the political process fail.
These developments come after months of tragedy since the outbreak of war on February 28,
which has resulted in more than 3,000 deaths.
Despite a two-week ceasefire declared in April and the failure of negotiations in Islamabad, the situation remains uncertain.
While a full-scale resumption of hostilities has not been officially announced,
the United States has begun imposing a crippling naval blockade on Iranian ports.
This has prompted mediating parties to intensify their efforts to organize a new round of negotiations.
These negotiations may represent the last chance to avert a full-scale regional conflagration.
