Tehran – The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) affirmed on Saturday that there is “no available agreement” with Washington at the current stage. This statement highlights the deadlock in negotiation tracks between the two sides, with the committee emphasizing that prevailing conditions and current US positions do not allow for common understandings regarding outstanding files.
“Unrealistic” Conditions and a Trust Deficit
Committee members explained that the conditions put forward by the US administration are “unrealistic” and incompatible with Iran’s national interests. The statement noted that recent American policies have contributed to escalating tensions and deepening the trust deficit, asserting that Tehran sees no suitable ground for resuming dialogue as long as “mutual respect” is absent and political and economic pressures persist.
Complex Issues and Sovereign Rights
The committee added that the disputes with Washington are not limited to a single issue but span interconnected security, economic, and political matters, making a resolution “extremely complex.” Tehran underscored that its position is rooted in “sovereign rights and national constants,” noting that any future dialogue is conditional upon the lifting of pressures and a change in the current US approach—factors the committee deems non-existent at present.
