Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emphasized the importance of restoring maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-February 28 levels, given the escalating tensions that have impacted the security of vital shipping lanes in the region.

In official statements, Riyadh stressed that the stability of maritime navigation is a cornerstone of global energy security, particularly as the Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important arteries through which a significant percentage of oil and gas supplies pass to international markets.

She explained that any disruption to maritime traffic through the Strait directly impacts the global economy and supply chains, calling for concerted international efforts to ensure freedom of navigation and protect commercial vessels from any threats.

The Kingdom also affirmed its support for all initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region and securing maritime routes in accordance with international law, thereby contributing to restoring stability and preventing the escalation of crises.

These statements come at a time of heightened tensions and attacks on commercial vessels in the region, which exacerbates concerns about maritime security in the Strait and prompts regional and international powers to intensify their efforts to maintain the stability of this vital waterway.
