  • “Nerve War”: Iranian Deterrence Messages at a Critical Juncture

Tehran – The Iranian capital, Tehran, has entered a state of total security and military mobilization following the authorities’ announcement of full air defense activation and raising readiness to maximum levels. Obviously, Tehran has decided to place its skies under round-the-clock surveillance, a move reflecting heightened fears of surprise attacks, whether via suicide drones or unidentified reconnaissance aircraft. This step effectively turns the Iranian capital into a “sky fortress” amidst the unconventional regional threats looming in May 2026.

“Radars That Never Sleep”: How Tehran Prepared for Surprise Scenarios?

Military sources confirmed the deployment of air defense units at strategic and vital points around the city, alongside intensified electronic monitoring. Accordingly, analysts believe this mobilization aims to secure sensitive facilities from any infiltration attempts intended to destabilize the country. Clearly, the Iranian military leadership wants to send a message of “internal reassurance and external deterrence,” asserting that Iranian airspace is under full control and that any suspicious “flying object” will be treated as a hostile target to be destroyed instantly.

“Nerve War”: Iranian Deterrence Messages at a Critical Juncture

Despite Tehran’s assurances that these measures fall under “routine operations” to bolster national security, the timing of the mobilization carries deep political and military significance. As a result, observers view this as Iran practicing “deterrence diplomacy” by showcasing its combat readiness in the face of mounting threats. Amid the state of “constant alert” gripping the region, Tehran’s skies remain under full watch, awaiting the coming days’ developments in this complex regional conflict.
