New Delhi, India – The Indian Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador to New Delhi following an incident in which two Indian-flagged commercial vessels were targeted in the Strait of Hormuz. This incident marks a new escalation in tensions related to maritime security in the region.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson stated that External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met with the Iranian ambassador, expressing India’s deep concern over the shooting incident targeting the two vessels as they transited the strait, describing the incident as “very serious.”
According to available information, the two commercial vessels were fired upon while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Further details regarding the perpetrators and the extent of the damage have not yet been released.
