Brussels, Belgium – The President of the European Council urged all parties involved to fully commit to the ceasefire, stressing that this step represents the true foundation for creating the conditions necessary for achieving lasting and stable peace in the region.
The European official emphasized that sustaining the truce requires a clear political will from all parties, along with the necessity of prioritizing dialogue over escalation, especially given the increased tensions witnessed recently.
He added that the European Union is continuing its diplomatic efforts in coordination with international partners to support the de-escalation process, work to solidify the truce, and prevent any violations that could plunge the region back into violence.
He noted that the current phase presents a genuine opportunity to rebuild trust and open serious channels for negotiation, contributing to reaching sustainable solutions that preserve the security and stability of the region in the long term.
