Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that the recent Iranian attacks targeted several facilities belonging to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, in addition to power plants and water desalination and distillation plants. As a result, this threatens the country’s energy and water security.
Targeting critical infrastructure
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense stated that the Iranian attacks were a deliberate attempt to destabilize essential energy and water supplies. It also confirmed that its forces are closely monitoring the situation and taking the necessary measures to protect these vital facilities.
Damage assessment and appropriate response
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense confirmed that it will assess the extent of the damage to the facilities. It will also coordinate with its regional and international partners to ensure the continued operation of power and desalination plants, thereby maintaining essential services for citizens.
A call to abide by international law
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense reiterated its call for all parties to refrain from any hostile acts targeting civilian infrastructure. It also stressed that attacks on energy and water facilities constitute a flagrant violation of international law and expose the region to grave dangers.
