Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Brigadier General Riyadh al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, announced on Thursday morning that air defense forces had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward the port of Yanbu.
This constitutes a serious escalation and reflects the continued regional threats directed against vital installations in the Kingdom.
Sporadic attack attempts
This announcement followed a series of defensive successes, during which the Ministry thwarted
an attack involving 12 hostile drones and a ballistic missile targeting the Eastern Province.
Additionally, 13 other drones were destroyed in the Riyadh and Eastern Provinces during separate attack attempts.
The Ministry confirmed that the total number of ballistic missiles intercepted
by the defense system in the capital, Riyadh, reached eight.
Debris from one of these missiles fell near a refinery south of the city, causing no serious injuries.
Stop Iranian violations
In a firm political stance, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed,
following a meeting of foreign ministers from Islamic and Arab states in Riyadh,
that the Kingdom will not succumb to Iranian attempts at pressure through these “destructive activities.”
Bin Farhan emphasized that Saudi Arabia reserves its full right to take military action in response to these attacks if necessary.
He indicated that these attacks will have negative political and moral repercussions for Iran.
These developments come at a time when the Kingdom has raised its level of warnings.
It has also affirmed its intention to pursue all available means to halt Iranian violations
and protect its civilian infrastructure and global economy.
