Washington, DC – The US State Department, through its Rewards for Justice program, announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the location or activities of several key leaders in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The program explained that the offer includes information on senior leaders in the IRGC and its various branches, noting that these officials oversee the planning, organization, and execution of operations that Washington designates as terrorist activities in different parts of the world.
Designating the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization
The U.S. State Department affirmed that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a branch of the Iranian armed forces, plays a pivotal role in employing what the United States describes as terrorism as a key instrument of Iranian foreign policy.
The statement noted that Washington designated the IRGC, including its Quds Force, as a foreign terrorist organization in April 2019 under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, and that the U.S. Treasury Department had previously designated it as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 2017.
Targeting prominent leaders
According to the US program, the list of individuals for whom information is sought includes several figures linked to the leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian security and political institutions, including Mojtaba Khamenei, Yahya Rahim Safavi, and Ali Larijani, as well as officials in the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Intelligence.
The program explained that these leaders oversee activities related to the IRGC and its branches, which the United States says support armed groups and carry out operations targeting US interests around the world.
Invitation to submit information
The Rewards for Justice program called on individuals to provide information that could help uncover the activities or locations of the targeted leaders, emphasizing that any assets or financial interests of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) within U.S. jurisdiction are subject to freezing.
It also stressed that U.S. law prohibits U.S. citizens and companies from engaging in any transactions with or providing material support to the IRGC, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States.
