Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – A large-scale security alert was declared around the US Embassy in the Saudi capital following an attack targeting the vicinity of the American diplomatic mission in Riyadh. This raised questions about who was responsible and the motives behind the escalation.

According to security sources, the attack involved the firing of projectiles or a limited security breach attempt, which was quickly dealt with by Saudi security forces. No casualties were reported. Authorities imposed a tight security cordon around the diplomatic quarter.

Initial reports indicate that investigations are still underway to identify the perpetrators, with varying theories suggesting the attack was carried out by a lone actor. Meanwhile, some analysts believe the incident was linked to organized groups seeking to send political messages amidst escalating regional tensions.

Saudi authorities affirmed that they will not tolerate any attempt to compromise the security of diplomatic missions, emphasizing their full commitment to protecting foreign premises in accordance with international agreements.

Analysts believe the timing of the attack raises questions, especially given the current regional escalation and the exchange of indirect messages between various parties. This opens the door to possibilities ranging from settling regional scores to an attempt to draw new actors into the conflict.

Meanwhile, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the incident, amid international anticipation of the official findings.
