Aden, Yemen – The Administrative Board of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council held its regular meeting today in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Nasr Harhara, Acting President of the National Assembly. The meeting discussed the political and field situation in the southern governorates. It also affirmed its complete alignment with the political leadership of the Southern Transitional Council. The meeting reviewed the recent statement by President Aidarus al-Zubaidi, emphasizing adherence to the principles of peaceful struggle to achieve the goals of the people of the South, foremost among them the restoration of their fully sovereign state and commitment to the Constitutional Declaration of the State of South Arabia.

The committee commended the public events and peaceful demonstrations in various southern governorates. It also affirmed the awareness and discipline of the citizens and their adherence to their legitimate right to self-determination. At the same time, the committee condemned the use of violence by militia and security forces against demonstrators in the city of Ataq, which resulted in deaths and injuries. It considered this a flagrant violation of public rights and freedoms. The committee also reviewed the report of the Rights and Freedoms Committee regarding the ongoing violations in Hadramawt. It demanded an end to the repression and called for enabling the people of the governorate to protect themselves. It also urged international organizations to intervene to protect civilians.

The Southern Transitional Council (STC), with its firmly established popular base, is more cohesive and organized than ever in the face of challenges. It continues its regional and international diplomatic efforts to ensure the right of the people of South Yemen to self-determination. Regarding the formation of the new Yemeni government, the STC asserted that it does not represent the cause of the South and lacks legitimacy. It affirmed its commitment to a peaceful political process as a strategic option within an independent negotiating framework and under international and regional supervision. The meeting concluded with a discussion of organizational matters and the STC’s action plan. The STC called on the people of South Yemen to actively participate in upcoming peaceful events and demonstrations, including the event in Zinjibar, Abyan Governorate, next Saturday. This aims to amplify the voice of South Yemen to the international community.
