Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) asserted on Wednesday that it maintains complete control over the security situation within the country. It also emphasized its comprehensive operational plans to address various potential scenarios. This comes amid escalating US rhetoric suggesting Iranian weakness and the possibility of renewed popular protests.

In an official statement carried by Iranian media, the IRGC declared, “The security and field situation in the country is stable and under complete control.” It added that security and military agencies are closely monitoring internal and external developments. The IRGC also affirmed its readiness to confront any potential threats targeting Iran’s security and stability.

This statement followed remarks made hours earlier by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who stated that Iran is “weaker than ever.” He also noted that the protests witnessed in the country in recent times resulted in thousands of deaths. While acknowledging a recent decline in protests, he suggested the possibility of their resurgence in the future.

The IRGC statement further emphasized that what it termed a “psychological and media war” waged by the United States and its allies aims to undermine domestic confidence and sow anxiety among the population. He asserted that these attempts “have failed and will not achieve their objectives.” He indicated that Iranian forces operate according to well-defined plans. Moreover, they take into account all regional and international developments.

The statement added that Iran “has learned from the experiences of past years” and is now better prepared to confront pressures, whether political, economic, or security-related. It also noted that any external escalation will be met with a “calculated and decisive” response that safeguards the country’s interests.

Regarding the internal protests, the Revolutionary Guard affirmed that the relevant authorities are dealing with any unrest within the framework of the law. It blamed “external parties” for inciting violence. Furthermore, it pointed to the exploitation of grievances related to living conditions for political gain.

These statements come at a time of escalating tensions in the region, amidst mutual warnings between Tehran and Washington. This opens the door to a new phase of political and media escalation. This occurs against a backdrop of uncertainty surrounding the future trajectory of relations between the two sides.
