Sana’a, Yemen – The U.S. Embassy in Yemen condemned today’s attack, which it described as “unjustified,” targeting a Yemeni government military convoy in the Ja’awla area north of the interim capital, Aden.

The embassy affirmed its complete rejection of such acts, which threaten security and stability and undermine efforts to support state institutions.

In a statement, the embassy said that this attack represents a serious assault on government forces. It also reflects the ongoing security challenges facing the country at a critical juncture. This period requires concerted local and international efforts to confront violence and protect civilians and official institutions.

In violation of international law

The statement added that targeting the military convoy constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law. It also exacerbates the suffering of Yemenis who yearn for security and stability.

The U.S. Embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. It further affirmed its solidarity with the Yemeni people in the face of these acts that obstruct the peace process.

The statement stressed the need to hold those responsible for the attack accountable and bring them to justice within the framework of the law.

Solving the Yemeni crisis

The Embassy reiterated the United States’ commitment to supporting the legitimate Yemeni government and its efforts to enhance security and stability.

It also supports efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms. These efforts contribute to the protection of civilians and the preservation of state institutions.

It also renewed its call on all parties to renounce violence and engage in

a comprehensive political process leading to a sustainable solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that achieving lasting peace

in Yemen requires respect for the rule of law and support for state institutions.

Furthermore, it requires enhanced international and regional cooperation to address security threats. As a result, this ensures a more secure and stable future for Yemen and the region.
