Beijing, China – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized the record-breaking US arms deal with Taiwan, as Beijing conducted its second day of military drills around the island, over which it claims sovereignty.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also attacked, during a diplomatic event held in Beijing on Tuesday,

He described them as “forces supporting Taiwanese independence” and Japanese leaders, according to Reuters.

These remarks come in response to the US State Department’s announcement of an arms deal worth over $11 billion.

It is the largest of its kind in the history of Taiwanese military sales.

The deal includes advanced missile systems, drones, artillery systems and military software.

This reflects an escalation in US military support for the self-governing island.

Which separated from China during the civil war in 1949.

In his review of Chinese diplomacy, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi touched on other international issues,

Wang Yi called for justice for the Palestinian people and an end to the marginalization

of the Palestinian cause, stressing Beijing’s support for the two-state solution.

He also noted China’s role as a mediator in the Russian-Ukrainian war,

and its recent efforts to mediate between Thailand and Cambodia to strengthen the ceasefire.
