The meeting comes, according to the Jordanian News Agency “Petra”, which is held with the participation of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, the US Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, and the US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barak. Additionally, representatives of the relevant institutions in the three countries are participating.

This meeting comes as a continuation of the discussions that Amman hosted on July 18. It aims to consolidate the ceasefire in Suwayda Governorate in southern Syria and resolve the crisis there.

Prior to the meeting, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. He also met separately with the US Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, and discussed the situation in Syria. They focused on the efforts made in this regard.

This tripartite meeting was preceded by a bilateral meeting that included the foreign ministers of Jordan and Syria.
