Cairo, Egypt – The Yango Play platform has announced the release of the film *In Ghab Al-Qit* (When the Cat Is Away), starring Asser Yassin and Asma Galal, starting tomorrow. This follows the film’s major success in theaters since its debut in December 2025, during which it grossed 72 million pounds.
Top of the Saudi box office
The film achieved remarkable regional success, topping the list of the top 10 highest-grossing films at the Saudi box office in January 2026 and outperforming a number of prominent international titles.
The events of the film “When the Cat Is Away”
The film centers on Zain, an art history professor at the American University living a quiet, stable life, who finds himself entangled in a series of perilous and comical situations due to his striking resemblance to a world-class art thief known as “The Cat.” As a painting is stolen, conflicts escalate between gang members and staff, while the unfolding events raise questions about the nature of human relationships from various perspectives.

Starring alongside Asser Yassin and Asma Galal are Mohamed Shahin, Ali Sobhy, and Samah Anwar; the film is written by Ayman Wattar and directed by Sarah Nouh.
