Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that members of the Lebanese community residing in Venezuela are safe
and that no injuries or casualties have been reported among Lebanese citizens
as a result of the two powerful earthquakes that struck the country.
The Ministry affirmed that it is maintaining contact with members of the community
to ensure their well-being and provide any necessary support.
Varying material damages
The Ministry explained that the Lebanese Embassy in Caracas sustained
varying degrees of material damage as a result of the powerful earthquakes.
The damage included parts of the building and some internal facilities,
but it did not affect the safety of the staff or the diplomatic mission’s ability to carry out its essential duties.
The Lebanon Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the embassy continues its work in coordination
with Venezuelan authorities to monitor the situation of Lebanese citizens residing in various regions,
particularly in cities directly affected by the two earthquakes and the subsequent damage to infrastructure and public services.
broad international solidarity
The Ministry also urged members of the Lebanon community to adhere to safety instructions issued
by Venezuelan authorities and to contact the embassy if they require assistance or wish to report any emergencies.
It noted that it is monitoring developments on the ground around the clock.
Lebanese are among the largest Arab communities in Venezuela,
with significant numbers residing in the capital, Caracas, and several other major cities.
This prompted Lebanese authorities to intensify their monitoring and communication efforts immediately following the disaster.
These statements come as rescue and relief operations continue in Venezuela amidst widespread international solidarity.
Meanwhile, local authorities are working to assess the extent of the damage
and restore essential services to the areas affected by the two devastating earthquakes.
