Cairo, Egypt – The production company behind the film “El Set Lama” (When the Lady) has set a summer release date for the film, starring Youssra. This bold cinematic experience, part of the 2026 summer film season, tackles sensitive women’s issues that are expected to generate widespread debate on social media.
Media personality adopts women’s campaign
The film revolves around the character of “journalist Dina El-Kurdy,” played by Youssra, who collaborates with her two guests, “Wafaa,” played by Yasmine Raees, and “Fatima,” played by Dorra, to launch a women’s campaign called “Feto.” The campaign aims to empower women to object to crucial decisions within the family, encourage them to break the silence and share their experiences with psychological violence, while highlighting the shortcomings that may lead to women being subjected to injustice.
Controversy in the street and a heated confrontation
The campaign gained widespread traction in record time, transforming into a public issue debated on talk shows, amidst a sharp division between supporters and opponents. Artist Amr Abdel Galil emerged as one of the most prominent opponents, leading a counter-campaign to stop “Veto” by organizing protests and raising anti-Veto slogans, thus fueling the conflict within the events.
Action heroes
The film stars Maged El Masry, Mahmoud El Bezawy, Rania Mansour, Donia Samy, Entesar, and Mai Hassan. It is written by Kiro Ayman and Mohamed Badawy, directed by Khaled Abu Ghareeb, and produced by Nada and Rana El Sobky. Several guest stars appear in the film, including Karim Fahmy, Kinda Alloush, Shaimaa Seif, and Hamdy El Wazir, along with media personalities Hala Sarhan and Lamis El Hadidy.
