Washington, USA – The Mandalorian and Grogu has grossed $102 million at the global box office since its release on May 22 in theaters worldwide. The film, produced by The Walt Disney Company, has a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes.
Strong start
The revenue was split between $63 million at the US box office and $165 million at the global box office, marking a strong start to the summer movie season.
Star Wars returns to the cinema
This film is the first new installment in the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker franchise to hit theaters since 2019, a film that sparked widespread debate among audiences and critics.
The project also comes after nearly seven years during which Disney focused on producing television content for the Disney+ platform, most notably the series The Mandalorian.
Jon Favreau leads the new project
Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, the film is Disney’s first feature-length Star Wars film in seven years. It kicked off the summer movie season with $82 million in its first three days across 4,300 theaters, officially launching the summer movie season with a bang in cinemas worldwide.
