Highlights
  • 1- Sleeping on the stomach or side
  • 2- Staring at screens for long periods
  • 3- Neglecting the neck and upper chest
  • 4- Tighten the skin around the eyes

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Some daily habits accelerate skin aging without awareness, such as unhealthy sleeping position, prolonged staring at screens, and quickly removing makeup, which harms the skin and accelerates its aging.

Serums rich in vitamin C and night creams containing retinol are also effective ways to delay signs of premature aging that appear on the skin.

But it loses much of its benefit if its use is accompanied by daily habits that accelerate the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Some habits that we repeat constantly leave traces on our faces in the form of lines, wrinkles, and sometimes sagging very early.

Let’s learn about 4 habits that accelerate skin aging and discover the simple steps that can be taken to protect the skin in this area.

1- Sleeping on the stomach or side

These positions are comfortable for sleeping but cause damage to the skin.

Pressing the pillow on the face accelerates the appearance of premature lines and wrinkles on areas around the eyes, cheeks, and chin.

2- Staring at screens for long periods

Modern man spends a large portion of his time in front of the screens of computers, smartphones, and tablets.

Often in unsuitable lighting conditions.

All of this prompts us to stare more at screens and tighten our eye muscles over and over again to see better.

This would deepen forehead wrinkles and eye corners.

In addition, we are exposed to blue light from screens, which generates oxidative stress that can accelerate cell aging, as revealed by several studies conducted in this field.

3- Neglecting the neck and upper chest

Facial skin care usually stops at the chin area, and many of us forget the neck and upper chest, which are equally exposed to pollution, dryness, and sunlight, especially since they are more fragile than facial skin.

Thin skin in these areas lacks sebaceous glands and lines and wrinkles appear faster.

It also loses its durability and dark spots appear before the face.

Therefore, it is recommended to use facial skin care products on the neck and upper chest area, which also need cleaning, moisturizing, and nutrition.

4- Tighten the skin around the eyes

The area around the eyes is constantly exposed to repeated rubbing when makeup is removed from it, and care products are often applied to it quickly.

But we have to remember that it is four times thinner than the rest of the facial skin and is also poor in collagen.

The sudden movements that affect it cause its supporting fibers to break and accelerate the appearance of pockets and fine lines on them.
