Rome, Italy – The Emirates XRG cycling team concluded its participation in the 109th edition of the Giro d’Italia cycling race. Achieving four victories in the various stages, despite a series of incidents and withdrawals that affected the team’s ambitions to compete in the overall standings.
Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard, a Vezma rider for Liz Pike, won the race, becoming the eighth men’s rider to win all three major races.
The challenges for the Emirates team began early after Briton Adam Yates, Australian Jay Fine, and Spaniard Marc Soler were forced to withdraw following a fall accident during the first week. Which prompted the team to rearrange its goals and focus on achieving interim victories.

Ecuadorian Jonathan Narvaez succeeded in giving the team its first victory during the fourth stage, benefiting from the distinguished tactical work carried out by his Swiss colleague Jan Christen. The team continued to shine in the sixth stage, when Danish Mikkel Bjergh led the escape group and paved the way for Narvaez to achieve its second victory. Before the Ecuadorian cyclist added his third victory in the eleventh stage, raising the team’s tally to four stage victories during the race.
