Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced its acquisition of Corridor Logistica e Infrastrutura (CLI), an independent operator of bulk agricultural cargo terminals in Brazil.
The deal was valued at AED 3.1 billion (approximately US$835 million).
This marks the group’s official entry into the South American market as part of its international expansion strategy.
Strategic entry and logistical hubs
Abu Dhabi Ports Group stated that the acquired company is headquartered in São Paulo
and operates two major agricultural export terminals at the ports of Santos and Itaqui.
These terminals are among the leading logistics hubs for exporting sugar, corn, and soybeans in Brazil.
The company explained that the acquisition represents a significant step in its global expansion,
granting it direct access to one of the world’s largest agri-food export markets.
CLI’s assets include the CLI SOL terminal at the port of Santos and the CLI Norte terminal at the port of Itaqui,
located within the Arc de Norte region, one of the fastest-growing infrastructure development areas in Brazil.
The company operates both terminals under long-term concession agreements,
making them key gateways for grain and agricultural exports to global markets.
Strengthening global supply chains and trade
Abu Dhabi Ports confirmed that the acquisition supports its plans to develop a new trade hub connecting East and West.
It also links Brazil to markets in Asia, Africa, and the Indian subcontinent, thus strengthening its role in global supply chains.
Group officials indicated that the deal aligns with its investment diversification strategy
and also enhances its presence in the food, agriculture, and logistics sectors.
This acquisition is part of a series of international expansions for the group,
which have included investments in Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, and Spain,
reflecting its focus on strengthening its global presence in the maritime and logistics infrastructure sector.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of this year, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
