Rome, Italy – The Emirates – XRG cycling team continued to shine in the current edition of the 2026 Giro d’Italia. At the end of the second week of competitions, Sunday. After Ecuadorian cyclist Jonathan Narvaez achieved his third stage victory, in addition to wearing the “Maglia Chiclamino” shirt designated for the leader of the points standings.
The second week witnessed a remarkable presence of the team at various stages of the race. Danish cyclist Mikkel Bjerg gave an outstanding performance in the 42 km individual time trial race, finishing eighth. While Italian Filippo Gana won the stage title.
The highlights of the week came in the eleventh stage, when Narvaez set off in the lead group more than 80 km before the finish line. He entered into a tactical struggle with Spaniard Enrique Mas, before clinching victory in the final metres, achieving his third victory in the race.
The team also continued its offensive presence in the thirteenth stage through Pierg’s participation in the escape group and his completion of the seventh stage. Before Narvaez succeeded in the fourteenth stage in collecting enough points to snatch the purple shirt, despite Danish Jonas Vinggaard winning the stage and topping the overall standings.
In the fifteenth stage, Narvaez lost the top spot in the points standings to Frenchman Paul Manier after strong competition for medium speed points. While Norwegian Frederik Dversnes from Uno-X Mobility won the stage after the escape group held out until the end.
The Emirates Cycling Team enters the final week of the race with great ambitions to continue competing for stage victories and the points shirt. As the crucial mountain stages approach that will define the final standings before reaching Rome.
