Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, strongly condemned the attack targeting the United Arab Emirates with three drones,
including one that targeted the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant.
He described the attack as a blatant act of aggression, representing a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
Gulf condemnation of the attack
The Secretary-General affirmed that targeting vital facilities and civilian infrastructure,
especially peaceful nuclear facilities, is unacceptable by any standard.
This constitutes a direct threat to the security and stability of the region and the safety of its people.
He also stressed the need to halt such hostile acts aimed at destabilizing the region.
Full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates
His Excellency reiterated the Gulf Cooperation Council’s full support for the United Arab Emirates in confronting this aggression.
He also expressed support for all measures taken by the UAE to preserve its security and stability and to protect its territory and vital installations.
He added that the security of the UAE is an integral part of shared Gulf security.
Call for de-escalation
The Secretary-General called for restraint and urged all parties to avoid further escalation in the region.
He also warned against targeting sensitive facilities, particularly those related to nuclear energy,
given the potentially serious repercussions for regional and international security.
He affirmed that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will continue its political
and diplomatic efforts in coordination with regional and international partners.
These efforts aim to support stability and enhance security in the region,
thereby ensuring the protection of member states and safeguarding the interests and stability of their people.
