Washington, United States — US President Donald Trump stated that while Tehran wants to reach an agreement with Washington, Iran remains unprepared to accept the terms he considers necessary. Consequently, Trump indicated no intention to extend the 60-day negotiation memorandum unless full US requirements are satisfied. Furthermore, he reiterated that the core objective behind US regional military presence is preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

US Position on Comprehensive Nuclear Restrictions

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that his administration will not compromise on essential national security standards. Additionally, his comments coincided with the conclusion of the agreed 60-day preliminary negotiation period, as reported by Anadolu Agency and SWI swissinfo.

Washington maintains that any durable resolution must institute verifiable restrictions rather than temporary assurances. Consequently, the administration relies on sustained diplomatic and economic pressure to push Tehran toward accepting the proposed parameters.

Maritime Enforcement and Strait of Hormuz Pressures

Trump also addressed escalating tensions across regional waterways, noting that naval blockade operations have proven highly effective. Additionally, he warned against potential efforts to disrupt shipping routes or lay marine mines, affirming US capabilities to safeguard maritime oil transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

Finally, the US President’s remarks highlight an ongoing diplomatic impasse regarding core negotiation items. Ultimately, global energy markets and international stakeholders remain focused on Washington’s policy steps following the expiration of the preliminary framework.
