Abu Dhabi, UAE – Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, affirmed that the terrorist attack on the Barakah Peaceful Nuclear Energy Plant represents a dangerous escalation and a dark chapter that violates all international laws and norms.
He also noted that this type of attack reflects a criminal disregard for the lives of civilians in the UAE and the surrounding region.
Furthermore, it presents the region with increasing security challenges, challenges linked to forces of chaos and sabotage.
A dangerous escalation and a violation of international law
In a blog post published Sunday on the X platform, Gargash explained that targeting civilian facilities
and vital infrastructure, especially peaceful nuclear facilities,
constitutes an unprecedented violation of the red lines established by international humanitarian law.
He emphasized that such actions cannot be justified under any political or military pretext,
given the direct risks they pose to regional security and global stability.
A direct threat to the security of civilians and the stability of the region
Gargash pointed out that this attack does not target a specific country,
but rather represents a broad threat to the security of civilians in the region.
It also reflects the widening circle of escalation amid rising tensions in several regional arenas.
He emphasized that targeting vital infrastructure threatens development
and stability and undermines international efforts to reduce tensions.
A firm Emirati message in the face of threats
Gargash emphasized that the UAE will continue to adhere to its path of security, stability, and development,
and that no attempts to influence its course or undermine its achievements will succeed.
He also affirmed that “no one will twist the UAE’s arm, nor will they succeed in undermining its vision,
its success, and its inspiring message to the peoples of the region regarding security, stability, development,
and prosperity,” indicating the UAE’s steadfast position in the face of these threats.
