Abu Dhabi, UAE – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, during talks held in Abu Dhabi, affirmed the importance of strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and expanding political, economic, technological, and cultural cooperation.
This reflects shared interests and promotes stability and development.
The joint statement issued on the occasion of the Austrian Chancellor’s visit to the UAE indicated
that the two sides discussed regional and international developments.
They also explored ways to enhance bilateral relations in vital and emerging sectors,
particularly artificial intelligence and renewable energy.
Advanced cooperation in technology and energy
The two sides agreed to develop the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed in 2021
to keep pace with global developments, with a focus on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
This will be achieved through supporting data centers, research partnerships, and the exchange of expertise and talent.
They also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in the energy sector,
particularly in the areas of renewable energy and hydrogen.
Furthermore, they stressed the need to strengthen industrial and investment partnerships between UAE
and Austrian companies, including in the petrochemicals, advanced technologies, and industrial value chains sectors.
The statement noted the continuation of economic coordination through the Joint Economic Committee.
In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of establishing an Emirati-Austrian Business Council to support trade
and investment relations between the private sectors of both countries.
Cultural and water partnership
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural cooperation and exchanging expertise in classical music, museums,
and the arts, affirming their support for initiatives that foster understanding between the two peoples.
They also reaffirmed their shared commitment to addressing global water challenges.
Furthermore, they expressed their support for international efforts related to water security and sustainability,
noting the importance of the 2026 UN Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal.
Shared positions on regional issues
The statement addressed a number of regional and international issues,
with both sides condemning Iranian attacks on the UAE and other countries in the region,
and rejecting any threat to international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
They affirmed the necessity of respecting international law and freedom of navigation.
They also reiterated their support for a peaceful resolution regarding the three occupied UAE islands
and reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis.
Furthermore, they supported efforts to end the wars in Ukraine and Sudan,
and advocated for comprehensive political solutions that preserve regional and international stability.
