Abu Dhabi, UAE – The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced on Saturday the implementation of exceptional precautionary measures, including a temporary and partial closure of UAE airspace. This strategic step aims to ensure the safety of air navigation and protect passengers and flight crews. It also aims to guarantee the security of the country’s territory and its airspace sovereignty.
In an official statement, the GCAA confirmed that this decision was taken only after a comprehensive and thorough assessment of current security and operational risks. Furthermore, it was implemented in full coordination with all relevant local and international authorities.

The safety of UAE airspace is a top priority

The authority stressed that the safety of UAE airspace is a top priority and will not be compromised. It also noted the country’s commitment to the highest international safety standards in light of the current circumstances in the region.
Regarding the rights of passengers affected by this partial closure, the authority explained that it is working closely with airlines and local authorities to ensure the necessary support is provided. It also confirmed that accommodation and meals will be provided to passengers whose flights have been affected.
The authority reiterated its call for all passengers to contact their airlines directly to stay updated on the latest flight schedules and any changes.

Continued monitoring of the situation

The authority concluded its statement by affirming that it will continue to closely monitor the situation. It will also keep the public and relevant authorities informed of any developments as they occur.
And It urged the public and travelers to obtain information only from official and accredited sources. It also requested that the public refrain from spreading rumors, expressing its appreciation for everyone’s cooperation and understanding of these necessary measures. It stated that these measures are dictated by the requirements of public safety during this exceptional period.
