Abu Dhabi, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates,
received His Excellency Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs
and Immigration of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed welcomed the Egyptian Foreign Minister and affirmed the deep-rooted
and historic fraternal ties between the UAE and Egypt.
He emphasized the shared commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields,
especially those that serve the development goals and strategic interests of the two brotherly nations.
Accelerating challenges
The meeting addressed ways to support and develop prospects for joint cooperation,
contributing to greater political coordination and economic integration.
This will benefit the people of both countries.
This comes amidst the rapidly evolving challenges facing the region,
which necessitate increased Arab consultation and cooperation.
During the discussions, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip
and the regional and international efforts aimed at containing the escalation.
They also emphasized the importance of supporting efforts to establish stability,
protect civilians, and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Gaza Strip’s residents.
Enhancing the chances of de-escalation
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and the Egyptian Foreign Minister also discussed the importance of supporting the goals
of the Peace Council and the necessity of implementing the plan presented by US President Donald Trump in its entirety.
This contributes to enhancing the prospects for de-escalation and creating a suitable environment for restoring stability in the region.
The meeting also addressed the importance of supporting the Palestinian National Committee
for the Administration of the Gaza Strip and strengthening its role in the coming phase.
The meeting further discussed intensifying regional and international efforts
to ensure the unimpeded and timely delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip.
This aims to meet the urgent needs of the population.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides affirmed the continuation of coordination and consultation
between the UAE and Egypt on various regional and international issues.
This cooperation stems from the pivotal role of both countries in supporting security and stability in the region,
as well as from strengthening joint Arab action to confront current challenges.
