Abu Dhabi, UAE – The organizing committee for the UAE-Qatar Super Cup announced details of the third edition of the tournament, which will feature eight clubs from the UAE and Qatar, at a press conference held in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday. Representatives of the committee were present, including Ahmed Al-Adsani, Director of Competitions; Abdullah Al-Minhali, Facility Director; and Ali Hassan Al-Salat, Media Director.
Al-Adsani explained that the tournament will be a knockout competition, with penalty kicks immediately determining the winner if the match ends in a draw after regulation time. Four teams from each country will participate. The competition will include several matches, most notably Al-Gharafa vs. Sharjah for the Super Cup in Doha. Al-Wahda will face Al-Duhail for the Challenge Shield at Al Nahyan Stadium. Additionally, Al-Sadd will play Shabab Al-Ahli for the Super Cup in Doha, and Al-Ahli of Qatar will meet Al-Jazira for the Challenge Cup at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
Al-Adsani noted that the committee reviews the regulations after each edition and works to improve the tournament’s technical and organizational aspects to ensure the best possible outcome for the event.
For his part, Abdullah Al Menhali confirmed the readiness of the stadiums and full coordination with security authorities, noting that the Al Gharafa vs. Sharjah match will be held on January 22 at Thani bin Jassim Stadium. The Al Sadd vs. Shabab Al Ahli match will take place on January 24 at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, with designated fan zones, fan activities, and prize draws.
Ali Hassan Al Salat explained that tickets have been on sale since January 11 through the online platforms of the UAE Pro League and the Qatar Stars League. He confirmed that 75% of the tickets for the Al Sadd vs. Shabab Al Ahli match and 50% of the tickets for the Al Gharafa vs. Sharjah match have been sold so far. He also expects sales to increase in the coming days. Media passes will be available through the “Haya” platform. Al Kass, Dubai TV, Sharjah TV, and Abu Dhabi Sports channels will cover the matches using more than 20 cameras to ensure comprehensive coverage of all events.
