Abu Dhabi, UAE – Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway,
affirmed their countries’ full support for all efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Middle East region.
This took place during a telephone call in which official discussions
were held covering all regional and international issues of common interest.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on developments in the region,
particularly the situation in the Palestinian territories.
They stressed the need to maintain the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,
and to create the necessary conditions to consolidate the truce and prevent renewed escalation.
This contributes to protecting civilians and alleviating human suffering.
Continue the flow of humanitarian aid
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and the Prime Minister of Norway stressed
the importance of continuing to provide sufficient humanitarian and relief aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Through all available means and crossings, and without obstacles, to ensure that the basic needs of
the population are met under the difficult humanitarian conditions the sector is experiencing.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint work and coordination
in addressing regional and international challenges, and to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Multilateral in a way that serves the issues of security,
stability and sustainable development at the regional and global levels.
A serious political path
In the same context, both sides affirmed their support for all international efforts
aimed at finding a serious political path in the region, based on the two-state solution.
This is the best way to achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace that guarantees
the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and achieves security
and stability for all countries in the region.
These talks come amid rapid regional developments, reflecting the importance of intensifying dialogue
and consultation between the countries concerned to support peace efforts.
