Mubadala Energy signs a preliminary agreement with BLN Energy Bremer Indonesia to enhance energy security in Indonesia

Bali, Indonesia – Mubadala Energy and BLN Energy Bremer Indonesia, a subsidiary of the Indonesian National Electricity Company, announced the signing of a preliminary agreement to supply natural gas from Mubadala Energy’s gas fields in the Andaman Sea.

This framework represents a milestone in Indonesia’s energy sector, and this upcoming partnership is a significant achievement for Indonesia’s energy sector.

The two parties will work to reduce dependence on existing liquefied natural gas supplies and develop sustainable solutions to meet growing domestic demand.

The MoU provides the foundations for energy security priorities for North Sumatra and Aceh from the Tangkulu gas field, which lies approximately 65 kilometers north off the coast of Sumatra and contains reserves of more than 2 trillion cubic feet of gas.

“This agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting Indonesia’s energy future,” said Abdullah Bu Ali, President of Mubadala Energy Indonesia. Through our collaboration with PLN EPI, we seek to provide reliable and sustainable energy solutions that meet local needs and enhance national energy security. This partnership represents an important step in our development plans for the Tangkulu gas project in the South Andaman Sea region.

The Indonesian energy sector is undergoing a dynamic transformation that opens new horizons for strengthening infrastructure and diversifying energy supply sources to ensure its long-term stability.

By combining Mubadala Energy’s global expertise and operational excellence on the one hand, and PLN EPI’s strong local capabilities on the other.

This cooperation ensures the provision of sustainable and stable energy solutions to millions of people in Indonesia.

This is fully in line with Indonesia’s national strategy to enhance energy security, ensure optimal use of domestic resources, and build a resilient energy system.

This agreement paves the way for broader discussions on technical and trade frameworks and confirms Mubadala Energy’s commitment to supporting domestic needs in light of its long-term role as a reliable partner in Indonesia.

While PLN EPI continues to lead initiatives that ensure a reliable energy supply for the country.
