Paris, France – Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, participated in the “Conference in Support of Peace and Prosperity in the Great Lakes Region”.
Which was held in the French capital, Paris, with the participation of a number of countries and international and regional organizations.
This is to discuss ways to enhance humanitarian response and development in the region, particularly in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the UAE announced during the conference a pledge worth US$10 million to support joint humanitarian efforts and initiatives aimed at meeting the needs of those affected in eastern Democratic Congo and neighboring countries, in cooperation with international partners and United Nations agencies.
In his speech before the conference, Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan affirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at alleviating human suffering and promoting stability and development on the African continent.
He pointed out that this pledge reflects the state’s approach based on human solidarity and extending a helping hand to communities affected by crises.
He expressed the UAE’s appreciation to the French Republic and the Republic of Togo for organizing this important conference.
He stressed the importance of unifying international efforts to ensure a more effective and comprehensive response to the humanitarian and development challenges in the region.
The UAE’s participation in this conference embodies its approach based on constructive diplomacy and international partnership.
It reflects the country’s commitment to continue supporting initiatives aimed at consolidating peace and prosperity in Africa.
