Dubai, United Arab Emirates – INDEX Holding, through the DIHAD Sustainable Humanitarian Organization, announced its participation in the “Donate Your Device” campaign. This initiative was launched by the Digital School under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It coincided with the activities of Zero Waste Week.
In a press statement received by the Voice of Emirates News Agency, the company confirmed its contribution included donating laptops and electronic devices. This helped provide education to 368 students and reduce more than 800 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions. This reflects a tangible commitment to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasized that “environmental sustainability is sustainability of development and a guarantee for human progress.”
Environmental and Educational Impact
The statement explained that the “Donate Your Device” campaign aims to collect, refurbish, and redistribute electronic devices to underserved communities. By choosing to donate your device, the initiative therefore reduces e-waste and enhances digital education for children and youth worldwide.
Official Statements
H.E. Ambassador Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Chairman of DIHAD Sustainable Humanitarian Organization and Chairman of INDEX Holding, said:
“Education and sustainability are two inseparable pillars for achieving progress. Through our support of the ‘Donate Your Device’ initiative, we are not only providing digital learning tools to underserved communities, but also reinforcing the culture of responsible reuse of electronic devices, reducing e-waste that poses serious health and environmental risks.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Waleed Al Ali, Secretary-General of the Digital School, praised the contribution, stating: “Encouraging others to donate their devices is crucial for the success of this campaign.”
“Every refurbished or recycled electronic device not only reduces waste but also becomes an opportunity for a child in need to learn. We greatly value INDEX Holding’s support, which reflects how leading institutions in the UAE transform sustainability principles into real learning opportunities.”
Pioneering Initiatives
The statement also highlighted that the first cycle of the “Donate Your Device” campaign successfully collected more than 50,000 electronic devices. It recycled around 120 tons of e-waste and reduced more than 122,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions.
The collaboration between the Digital School, INDEX Holding, and the DIHAD Sustainable Humanitarian Organization stands as a model. It unites humanitarian, educational, and environmental efforts toward a more inclusive and sustainable future for generations to come.
