Tehran, Iran – The latest data from the Statistical Center of Iran shows that the headline inflation rate reached triple digits in eight Iranian provinces during July of this year. The report indicated that while the headline inflation rate for Iran as a whole stood at 87.9 percent, it jumped to 112.4 percent in Ilam province, while it reached 73.9 percent in Tehran province. This disparity reflects a wide gap of 38.5 percentage points, confirming that households in different provinces did not experience the same price increases.
The news website “Al-Hadath 24” reported that the disparity in annual inflation rates is extremely wide, with Ilam province topping the list at 80.6 percent. Tehran province recorded the lowest annual inflation rate in the country at 55.2 percent. Food inflation exceeds 100 percent in all provinces, and the data indicates that the most severe price increases are concentrated in the food, beverage, and tobacco group.
Instant inflation for this vital group reached triple digits in all 31 Iranian provinces, peaking at 149.9 percent in West Azerbaijan. Even in provinces where overall inflation remained relatively low or below 100 percent, the prices of a basket of food items more than doubled compared to the previous year, further increasing the cost of living for citizens.
