London, England – Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the signing of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa during the current summer transfer window.
Martinez, 33, signed a three-season contract with Chelsea, keeping him with the London club until June 30, 2029.

Martinez began his career within the Argentine Independiente academy, before moving to Arsenal in August 2010, when he was 17 years old.
The goalkeeper spent several loan spells to gain experience before getting the chance to play regularly for Arsenal during the 2019-2020 season, participating in the team’s last 11 matches and contributing to winning the FA Cup.
Martinez also won the FA Community Shield with Arsenal at the start of the following season, before moving to Aston Villa in September 2020.
During his time with Aston Villa, Martinez played 256 matches over 6 seasons, establishing himself as one of the top goalkeepers, and winning the Europa League title with the team in May.
