Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Real Madrid concluded their preseason preparations with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Schalke 04 in a friendly match played Sunday evening at the Veltins-Arena.
Real Madrid asserted their dominance from the opening minutes. Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring early in the sixth minute, firing a low shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of the net.
Real Madrid continued their dominance of the match. Dean Hoesen added a second goal in the 20th minute, heading home a corner kick from Arda Güler.
As the second half began, the Spanish team extended their lead with a third goal scored by Carlos Aspe in the 56th minute. This came after he rose to meet a cross sent by Alvaro Carreras and headed it brilliantly.
The victory over Schalke served as a fitting conclusion to Real Madrid’s preseason preparations. Portuguese coach José Mourinho used the opportunity to give playing time to several of his players and assess their readiness. This took place before the team’s La Liga campaign begins next week.
