Madrid, Spain – Real Madrid announced that their defender Raul Asensio suffered a muscle injury during the team’s training session on Thursday morning, in a new blow before the start of the new football season.
Real Madrid is preparing to begin a new era under the leadership of Portuguese coach José Mourinho, after finishing the last two seasons without winning any titles. This comes as the team seeks to regain its strong presence both domestically and in Europe.
Real Madrid explained in an official statement on its website that medical tests conducted on Asensio confirmed that he suffered a muscle tear in the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg.
The statement read: “Following tests carried out today on our player Raul Asensio, he has been diagnosed with a muscle tear in the rectus femoris muscle of his right leg”.
Real Madrid had played two friendly matches as part of their preparations for the new 2026-2027 season. They managed to win both matches, before continuing their preparations for official competitions.
