Liverpool secured an important 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their Premier League match on Saturday evening, as part of the 34th round of fixtures.

The match was held at Anfield Stadium, and it saw a balanced performance at the beginning, before Liverpool gradually imposed its control, especially during the first half.

Mohamed Salah almost gave his team an early lead after winning a penalty, but VAR intervened, and the referee reversed his decision.

Liverpool succeeded in opening the scoring in the 37th minute, through Alexander Isak, who took advantage of a superb pass from Florian Wirtz, to shoot the ball from inside the penalty area into the net.

The Reds didn’t take long to extend their lead, with Andy Robertson adding a second goal in the 41st minute, following a pass from Curtis Jones.

In the second half, Liverpool suffered a worrying blow when Mohamed Salah injured his hamstring in the 57th minute, forcing coach Arne Slott to replace him with Jeremy Frimpong.

Crystal Palace narrowed the gap in the 72nd minute with a controversial goal scored by Daniel Munoz, who took advantage of the Liverpool goalkeeper falling inside the penalty area, to shoot a long ball into the goal.

In stoppage time, Florian Wirtz sealed the victory with a third goal, a powerful shot from inside the penalty area, confirming Liverpool’s superiority.

With this victory, Liverpool raised its tally to 58 points in fourth place, while Crystal Palace’s tally remained frozen at 43 points in thirteenth place.

South Korea began their 2026 World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in their opening Group A match early Friday morning. The game was played at the Estadio de Akron in Mexico, just hours after the host nation, Mexico, defeated South Africa 2-0 in the tournament's opening match. An Egyptian refereeing team, led by international referee Amin Omar, officiated the match, assisted by Mahmoud Abu El-Regal and Ahmed Hossam Taha, with Mahmoud Ashour in charge of VAR. The first half ended goalless, with both teams playing cautiously, before the pace of the game shifted in the second half. The Czech Republic took the lead in the 59th minute through Ladislav Krejčí, putting his team ahead and putting South Korea under pressure. South Korea responded quickly, with Beom Hwang equalizing in the 67th minute, bringing the game back to square one. The following minutes were full of excitement as the Czech Republic thought they had found the net again, but the goal was disallowed for offside after a review of the play. South Korea capitalized on their momentum, securing a 1-0 victory in the 80th minute through substitute Hyun-gyu Oh, who converted his team's second-half dominance into a valuable win. With this victory, South Korea moved to three points, sharing the top spot in Group A with Mexico, while the Czech Republic and South Africa remain without points after the opening round. The second round will feature a crucial match between Mexico and South Korea for the group lead, while the Czech Republic and South Africa will be looking to bounce back from their opening defeats when they meet in a match where further slip-ups are unacceptable.
