Cairo, Egypt – Zamalek secured their place in the CAF Confederation Cup final after a goalless draw against CR Belouizdad in the second leg of their semi-final, played this evening at Cairo International Stadium. Zamalek progressed thanks to their 1-0 victory in the first leg.
The match saw both teams exchange attacks, with Zamalek scoring in the 26th minute through Palestinian player Oday Dabbagh, who headed home a powerful free kick from Ahmed Fatouh. However, the goal was disallowed for offside after a VAR review.
The White team almost opened the scoring in the 35th minute. The ball reached Mohamed Ismail, who fired a powerful shot that was brilliantly saved by the visiting goalkeeper.
In the second half, Abdelrahman Meziane threatened Zamalek’s goal with a shot in the 47th minute that went just wide of the post. Then, in the 52nd minute, Dabbagh missed a clear opportunity after finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Farid Chaal made the save.
In contrast, Mehdi Slimane shone in keeping a clean sheet. He made a crucial save from Lotfi Bousouar’s shot inside the penalty area in the 80th minute.
Zamalek maintained their aggregate lead until the final whistle, thus securing their place in the final, where they will face the winner of the match between USM Alger and Olympique Safi.
Zamalek hopes to win its third title in the tournament, having previously won the cup in 2019 and 2024.
