Paris, France – Slovenian Tade Bogachar, rider of the Emirates XRG cycling team, came in second place in the Paris-Roubaix race. Which was held on Sunday, and is one of the most prominent classic bicycle races.
The race title went to Belgian Wout van Aert, a cyclist for the “Visma-Les a Paix” team. Who overtook Pugachar in the final sprint race, sealed the victory after a volatile competition.
The race witnessed strong participation from the Emirates XRG team, which imposed a high pace from the early stages. Which led to the reduction of the main group 150 kilometers before the finish line.
Pugachar suffered a technical malfunction, including a hole in the front tire 120 kilometers before the end. This forced him to change bikes, before he put on a powerful 20-kilometre chase to return to the front of the race. This is before entering the famous Arenberg Forest section.
With 54 kilometers to go, Pugachar and Van Aert launched a decisive attack, continuing their advance together until they entered the Robai track. Van Aert clinched the title in the final sprint race.
The final results showed that Van Aert won first place with a time of 5:16:52 hours. Pugachar followed in second place, while Jasper Stuyven finished third, 13 seconds behind.
