Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian national team suffered a major blow after it was confirmed that player Islam Issa had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. This came after he underwent thorough medical examinations immediately upon the team’s return from Spain.
The player sustained the injury during the second half of the friendly match against Spain, which was part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup, before leaving the field due to the injury.
Medical tests have confirmed that Islam Issa has suffered a torn cruciate ligament, meaning his season with Ceramica Cleopatra is over. He will also miss the upcoming World Cup with the national team.
The player started in both friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Spain, delivering outstanding performances. He scored a goal in the resounding 4-0 victory over the Saudi national team in a match held in Jeddah as part of the team’s preparation program.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian national team drew 0-0 against Spain in their last match, which was held at Espanyol’s stadium, after achieving a notable victory over Saudi Arabia in the previous friendly.
