Rabat, Morocco – Danish coach Jess Torup, the technical director of Al Ahly’s first football team, expressed his surprise at the absence of video technology in the group stage of the African Champions League.
Torop said during the press conference for the match: “The team started its journey in the group stage strongly after winning the first round, against JS Kabylie. The performance was good and we seek to continue the journey and achieve a positive result and deliver a strong performance against FAR Rabat.”
He added: “I always strive to improve performance, and of course we study and respect the competitor, but the goal is to perform at the best level and continue what we started.”
Regarding the absence of video technology in the tournament, he commented: “It is very important. The presence of VAR technology helps to achieve justice, especially in the finer details. I do not know the reason for its absence, but we respect the refereeing system, and we confirm that technology has become an essential element in such matches.”
He explained: “All the players on the roster are ready for the match, and to secure the three points.”
The Al Ahly coach continued: “Pressure is a natural part of football, and my real focus is on dealing with the pressure within my team only.”
He concluded: “Big matches are always accompanied by pressure, and we work on managing it in a way that helps us achieve victory.”
Al-Ahly had succeeded in achieving victory in the first round against JS Kabylie of Algeria, with a score of (4-1).
Meanwhile, the Royal Army lost in the first match against Young Africans with a score of (1-0).
