Cairo, Egypt – Riyad Mahrez led his team Al-Ahly to victory over their host Al-Ittihad, with a score of 1-0, in the match that brought the two teams together on Saturday evening, as part of the Saudi League Championship.

In the 11th minute, Benzema unleashed a powerful shot towards Edouard Mendy’s goal, but it served only as a warning from the French star.
Al Ahly responded with a cross in the 17th minute from Riyad Mahrez, but the advancing defender Roger Ibanez could not reach it, after a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.
In the 27th minute, Houssem Aouar almost threatened Mendy’s goal with a header, but it was deflected by his teammate Benzema.
Riyad Mahrez finally broke through the defensive wall of both teams to score Al Ahly’s first goal in the 55th minute.
The goal came after a cross from Franck Kessié that the Al Ittihad defense failed to deal with, allowing the ball to fall to Riyad Mahrez in front of the goal. With a clever touch, the Algerian star slotted the ball past Rajkovic.
Al Ittihad tried to equalize, with Moussa Diaby heading a corner kick from Houssem Aouar in the 67th minute just wide of the post.
The match remained evenly contested, but no further goals were scored, ending with Al Ahly winning 1-0.
The victory raised Al Ahly’s points tally to 15, placing them fifth, while Al Ittihad remained in eighth place with 11 points.
