The sixth round of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicks off in Fujairah.

Fujairah, United Arab Emirates – The Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah witnessed the start of the sixth round of the second edition of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (suit category) today. There was a distinguished audience and wide participation from elite players from local clubs and academies.

The first day’s bouts were dedicated to the youth, senior, and master categories. The matches were intense and competitive. As the tournament approached its decisive stages, every point became crucial in determining the champion’s identity.

The results of the first day revealed that Bani Yas Jiu-Jitsu Club topped the overall standings. M.O.D. Academy came in second, and Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club came in third. This clearly reflected the intense competition among the clubs for the top spots.

The number of participants exceeded 1,600 players.

His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized that the sixth round reflects the great momentum of the championship. He pointed out that the number of participants exceeded 1,600 male and female players from various clubs and academies. This confirms the championship’s status as one of the most important championships on the local sports scene. He added that the remarkable public attendance, especially from families, gave the championship a community dimension. This reflects the noble values ​​of the sport of jiu-jitsu. He emphasized that it has become a lifestyle that strengthens family and social ties.

For his part, Ali Qaddour Al Yamahi, Manager of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank’s Fujairah branch, said: “We are delighted to witness this outstanding level of organization and participation. The players displayed strong competition and impressive skills amidst the overwhelming support of the crowd.”

Rashid Al Shehhi, a player from Al Wahda Club who won the gold medal in the 56 kg adult category, expressed his pride in achieving this accomplishment, saying, “The competition was intense, and I competed against many distinguished players. After winning silver in the previous round, I was able to win the gold medal this time thanks to intensive training. I added important points to the club’s tally.”

In the same vein, Haneen Al Khoury, a player from Bani Yas Club who won the gold medal in the 57 kg youth category, expressed her great happiness, saying, “This victory gives me a strong motivation to continue developing my performance and honing my skills. It also serves as an incentive to achieve more success in upcoming tournaments.”
