Sharjah, United Arab Emirates – The Arab Chess Federation, headed by Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, announced that Lebanese Nadia Fawaz won the title of the Arab Women’s Individual Chess Championship “Arab Women – Online”, which it organized, in cooperation with the “Lee Chase” website.
The champion led by breaking the tie with 3 players, and scored 6 points from 7 rounds, equal to the second-place holder, Jordanian Batoul Akram, and the third-place Egyptian Sarah Adel.
Syrian Afamia Mahmoud achieved fourth place, while 4 players tied with 5 points in places from fifth to eighth, and they are: Egyptian Shahinda Wafa, Moroccan Naglaa Lakouk, Egyptian Aya Moataz, and her compatriot Shorouk Wafa.
Bashayer Al-Zaid, head of the Federation’s Women’s Committee, said that the equality of the players in points, despite the struggle for first places, confirms the high technical level, which is what the Arab Federation seeks in all the competitions it organizes throughout the year for all categories, with the aim of raising competitive capabilities and global classification, especially since its championships are internationally accredited.
