Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Ministry of Justice announced that the area surrounding the Central Airport prison in Baghdad has been subjected to repeated attacks recently. This incident has led to heightened security measures around one of the country’s most prominent correctional facilities.

Precautionary measures and increased security

The Ministry explained in a statement that the strikes targeted areas near the prison, with no escapes or significant damage reported within the facility. It also confirmed that security forces immediately reinforced precautionary measures and tightened security around the prison. As a result, they aimed to ensure the safety of inmates and staff.

The Ministry of Justice indicated that the relevant authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the nature and source of the strikes. In the same context, there is full coordination with security and military agencies. This is to secure the area and prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

The prisoners are under complete control

The Ministry of Justice confirmed that the prison is operating normally and that all inmates are under complete control. It emphasized that the state will not allow any attempts to destabilize security or target correctional facilities.

These developments come at a time when some areas of Iraq are experiencing sporadic security tensions. For this reason, the situation is prompting authorities to raise the level of preparedness. They must strengthen security measures around vital installations throughout the country.
