Prague – New research has revealed a fundamental shift in government technology strategies across the Asia-Pacific region, with “Sovereign AI” jumping to the second-highest investment priority for governments. This trend reflects nations’ desires to exert full national control over AI infrastructure and data to ensure national security and digital sovereignty.
The report highlighted an almost unanimous conviction among decision-makers, with nearly 99% of government leaders in the region believing that “Agentic AI” will be the primary driver for national AI adoption.
Control Over Data and Infrastructure
Governments in the Asia-Pacific region are prioritizing control over infrastructure and data, viewing the possession of local technical capabilities as a means to reduce dependence on external powers. This increased investment in “Sovereign AI” aims to develop national models that align with the cultural values and legal frameworks of each state.
The Era of “Agentic AI”
“Agentic AI” represents a transition from mere responsive systems to those capable of taking action and executing complex tasks autonomously. Leaders view this as the most effective tool for enhancing government efficiency and national services. Experts anticipate that this trend will reshape technical power balances in the region over the next few years.
